Tom's unique background as a landscape professional started early as the son of a sculptor, artist, and university design instructor. Studying and working in the natural environs of Western Carolina University in the Southern Appalachian Mountains helped fuel a livelong passion in landscaping that lead him to Seattle and then to Japan for two years. The design studio at the University of Osaka Prefecture and an apprenticeship with a Japanese gardener taught him skills he continues to use today. Upon returning to Seattle, horticultural studies at Edmonds Community College furthered his experiences. Tom also credits outdoor pursuits as contributing to his natural designs. In 1991 Tom founded Pacific Garden Design in Spokane and is committed to bringing together a team of professional individuals to offer quality, functional, and creative landscapes to better our community.
